The web is crawling with fantastic resources for helping you to create your own special techniques and learn the basic fundamentals of sculpting.
I will provide some links to some fabulous resources.

The first thing I suggest is becoming a member of one of the many amazing OOAK forums there are.
You will find links to these forums in my membership area for you to check out :-)

The biggest tips I can give anyone is not another tutorial on how to sculpt a face or hand, again, these tutorials are all over the place.
I will probably make a youtube video of me sculpting so that everyone can see my techinique,
but you will find it is not much different than many of the others that are already out there :-)

The one thing I think should be focused on most of all is how to select your clay, blending clays and testing for durability/strength.
A wonderful artist by the name of Deb Wood has given a FABULOUS page within her site for this specific area of focus.

My must have supply list:

Wire: 16,18 and 24 gage wire (color wire in 24 gage for wings/tails, but you can also paint plain silver wire)
Paint: Acrylics and Genesis Heat Set Paints
Clay: Cernit, Fimo Puppen, Prosculpt and Kato (flesh tone colors) Also get white/transparent for teeth, nails, wings and tails
Hair: Viscose, Tibetan Lamb (my two favorite)
Heat Gun aka embossing gun
Large Flat Piece of Tempered Glass. 3 or more feet in diameter (big enough to lay on table and use to sculpt on)
Deni Glass Convection Oven...one of the best polymer clay ovens I have used
Fantasy Film
TLS: Translusent Liquid Sculpey
Magic-Sculpt Two Part Epoxy - Great for bases and armatures
Alcohol
Acetone
Paint Brushes - Smoothing, Detailing and Painting
Flat Nose Pliers, Round Nose and Wire Cutters
